The Delhi government showcased its film facilitation framework and tourism ecosystem at the European Film Market (EFM) Berlin 2026, highlighting the capital’s growing potential as a global filming destination.

The participation was facilitated by the National Film Development Corporation Ltd (NFDC) under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, as part of efforts to promote India’s creative industry globally.

The presentation took place at Bharat Parv, organised under the Waves Bazaar platform, which serves as a key forum to showcase India’s cinematic and creative strengths to the international film community.

The Delhi delegation included Tourism and Art and Culture Minister Kapil Mishra, Delhi Tourism Managing Director and CEO Suneel Anchipaka, Secretary to the Minister Vinay Kumar Jindal, and Film Shooting Promotion Cell Manager Maniksha Bakshi. The delegation engaged with international producers, studios, festival programmers, and market stakeholders.

Speaking at the event, Kapil Mishra outlined Delhi’s vision to become a film-friendly global city by leveraging its heritage, cultural vibrancy, and modern infrastructure. He emphasised the importance of proactive policy support and institutional coordination to attract domestic and international productions.

The government highlighted initiatives to streamline filming permissions, strengthen single-window clearance systems, and ensure time-bound approvals through coordination between NFDC and the Delhi Tourism and Transportation Development Corporation.

Delhi’s tourism ecosystem was presented as a key enabler for film tourism. The city recorded 46.25 million domestic tourist visits in 2024, with tourism contributing nearly 5 per cent to the Union Territory’s GDP. Officials also showcased diverse filming locations, including heritage monuments, historic areas, markets, gardens, convention centres, and hospitality infrastructure.

The role of the International Film Festival of Delhi was highlighted as an important platform for global cinematic exchange, offering networking opportunities and international exposure to filmmakers.

NFDC reaffirmed its commitment to promoting India as a preferred filming destination and strengthening collaboration with states and Union Territories. The engagement at EFM Berlin marks a significant step in enhancing Delhi’s global presence, boosting film tourism, and reinforcing India’s position as a competitive destination for international film production.
